Notch Asks Community For Permission To Track Player Data In Minecraft

Mojang's Notch, a smart man in the field of game design and management of his company's 20 million+ Minecraft players, is an excellent choice. The designer has posted an online poll on his blog to find out if his cuboid friends would be happy with the company's decision to collect anonymous data from their players.

Mojang currently tracks players only when they logs in to the game. Notch proposes to collect "non-private" information, such as the duration of the game session, OS type, whether you are playing in a single or multi-player mode, and whether you are using the client or the web applet.  system32  gathered would be shared with the community, "as usual."

Notch said that the data will be transmitted "naturally" anonymously. It won't contain your session details or user name, and it wouldn’t transmit any sensitive information that you don't want to share. To be perfectly honest, we're quite surprised that this kind of data wasn't already collected. You can vote here for anonymity data collection or against anonymity in the case of the Minecraft nation.
